Free Books for Dane County Educators Returning to Classrooms
ATC is proud to sponsor “Classroom Kickstart” between Aug. 19 – 22. The four-day event is an initiative of Madison Reading Project’s annual Books for Educators program, which supports Dane County teachers with free, culturally diverse books to enhance classroom libraries.
More than 700 teachers are expected to participate in “Classroom Kickstart.” Each registered educator is invited to Madison Reading Project’s Book Center to select up to 25 new books for their classroom.
According to the National Education Association, educators spend up to $750 of their own money every year on supplies for their students.
ATC is committed to helping ease the financial strain on educators by ensuring thousands of books are distributed for free. Last year, more than 36,000 books were distributed to local schools, helping foster a love for reading.
“ATC is proud to support educators as they return to the classroom for the new school year. We recognize and admire their dedication to students and the community, and we want to support that work,” said Lori Lorenz, ATC executive vice president, chief people, culture and customer officer. “This sponsorship helps ensure teachers have access to quality, inclusive books that reflect their student population and encourage a love of reading.”
Teachers can now register for a timeslot.
