Project Overview
- ATC is proposing the Stevens Point-Appleton 345-kilovolt Rebuild Project in Portage, Waupaca, and Outagamie counties.
- The project includes rebuilding and upgrading an existing 345-kV power line between the Stevens Point and Appleton areas. ATC is currently evaluating alternative routes as part of the routing and siting process.
- The project is subject to review and approval by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
- The project was identified through the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s long-range transmission planning process and is classified as a Multi-Value Project designed to support reliability and future energy needs throughout the region.
Project Need
The proposed project is needed to address aging infrastructure, improve reliability and support growing demand on the power grid. It will help address increasing demand on the transmission system and reduce system constraints to support current and future energy needs.
