American Transmission Co. names Mike Rowe as new CEO
Procario to retire in July; Rowe promoted from chief operating officer
PEWAUKEE, Wis. – Mike Rowe, executive vice president and chief operating officer of American Transmission Co., will become the company’s president and chief executive officer, effective May 1, 2015. Current President, CEO and Chairman John Procario has led ATC since 2009, and announced last year his plans to retire. To ensure a smooth transition, Procario will serve as executive chairman until his retirement on July 31; and he will continue as chair of the ATC board through the end of 2015.
Rowe has been with ATC for more than eight years. He joined the company as vice president of Construction, and subsequently assumed responsibility for Asset Management, System Operations and Transmission Planning. In 2012, Rowe was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. He serves on the board of the Midwest Reliability Organization.
Previously Rowe served as director of Engineering & Asset Management for Kansas City Power & Light. Prior to that, Rowe spent 22 years with Commonwealth Edison in Chicago, where he was director of Project Management, responsible for its annual construction program focusing on infrastructure upgrades in Chicago and generating plant switchyards.
Rowe received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1982 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1988.
