ATC interns lend a hand in United Way Day of Action
College interns from American Transmission Co. joined hundreds of interns from other area companies to volunteer at local organizations as part of the United Way Intern Day of Action on July 18.
ATC interns spent the day sorting and organizing donated clothing and hygiene items for the Hope Center in Waukesha, Wis. The Hope Center provides free quality clothing and meals for people in financial need.
“I thought that it was cool to see most of the interns from different educational backgrounds come together and help serve people that may not have a strong financial foundation in our community to get some much-needed clothes and essential items,” said our safety intern, David.
Our system operations intern, Melissa, said, “It was interesting to learn about the Hope Center and it felt good knowing that we were helping them out and making a difference in our community.”
Having our interns participate in this important volunteer activity provides an opportunity for them to gain valuable experience in the community we serve and expands the scope of what they learn in their roles at ATC.
