This project is complete and in-service.
Overview
Prior to the construction of this line, the electric transmission system in the Wausau area was in need of reinforcements to prevent area overloads and to support the addition of a new generator at the Weston Power Plant.
An exiting single-circuit, 115-kilovolt transmission line was rebuilt between the Gardner Park Substation in Kronenwetter to the Hilltop Substation in Stettin. Existing H-frame structures were replaced with steel poles. The portion of the line between the Gardner Park and Weston Substations was built entirely on property owned by Wisconsin Public Service Corp.
This line significantly improves system reliability in and around the Wausau area and also provides support to the Rhinelander Loop system.
