In 2006 ATC established the ATC Environmental Stewardship Fund as part of its Green Tier participation. Each year we provide $300,000 of support to the fund, which is administered by the Natural Resources Foundation, for conservation of natural resources in Wisconsin. Although we build environmental protection of environmental resources into our daily business, we recognize that the construction, operation, and maintenance of our facilities will sometimes result in unavoidable environmental impacts. The ATC Environmental Stewardship Fund is intended to be a positive action we can take to offset the unavoidable impacts of ATC’s business activities, and provides significant long-term finanacial support to pubilc conservation needs throughout the state.

Each year, an advisory team of five individuals, including several representatives from the private conservation community, evaluate project proposals and advises the Foundation’s board of directors on the use of the Fund. The Fund supports the restoration and management of public lands, endangered species protection, public education and outreach, and community-based conservation projects. Fund recipients include conservation organizations, state and federal agencies and other non-taxed entities. As established in the Agreement, a large portion of the Fund (approximately 40%) supports the active restoration and management of State Natural Areas, or SNAs. SNAs represent the “best of the best” landscapes in Wisconsin, housing some of our most threatened and endangered plant and animal species and remnant landscapes.
The Fund demonstrates ATC's commitment to preserving and protecting the state’s environmental features that make Wisconsin a special place to live and work.
