Osprey Nest near transmission line in Franklin
PARIS-ST. MARTINS

ATC completed this project in 2005 by replacing the existing wires and structures between the Paris Substation in northern Kenosha County and the St. Martins Substation in southern Milwaukee County. Because the facilities were more than 50 years old, they were no longer adequate to support the generating output of the Paris Generating Station, which was uprated by We Energies in recent years to boost the electrical output.

In order to prevent power line overloads and failures, ATC replaced the existing wires with higher-rated ones to ensure continued reliability of the line under normal and extreme operating conditions. In addition, due to the age and condition of the existing two-pole (H-frame) and three-pole guyed wood structures, ATC replaced these structures with single-pole weathering steel structures.
