Wisconsin Energy has plans to construct two 650-megawatt generation units on Elm Road adjacent to its Oak Creek Power Plant in Milwaukee County. A number of facility adjustments will be needed to connect the electric output of the proposed Elm Road generation facilities with the ATC's electric transmission system.
Phase 1 construction at the site involves relocating certain transmission lines to make room for construction of the new generating units. Other on-site transmission lines will be moved to facilitate the construction of a new 345-kilovolt substation and modifications to an existing 230-kilovolt substation. Additional work at other substations in southeast Wisconsin also will be needed.
Phase 2 activities will involve some off-site upgrades to transmission lines that serve the plant. ATC expects all the transmission line work will occur on existing right-of-way. ATC plans to submit an applicaiton to the Public Service Commission in late 2006 for this Phase 2 work, and will involve the public in the projects.
