PARTNERSHIPS AND STEWARDSHIP

Successful environmental partnerships are important to us.  Before, during and long after a project is complete, ATC works with numerous environmental stakeholders and partners such as landowners, organizations, governmental bodies and resources agencies to identify broad issues of concern. Then we work collaboratrively to achieve results and accommodate needs. Partnering with others in this manner results in better project decisions and solutions that benefit ATC, the environment, and the people and organizations affected by our facilities. It is through these partnerships that we gain a better understanding of how we can make a difference and help strengthen the effectiveness of ATC's many programs and activities designed to protect and presere our natural resources.

Alliance Contractors

In 2007, ATC entered into long-term alliances agreements with Boldt Construction and MJ Electric for the construction and repair of our transmission lines and substations.

These construction alliances bring consistency to staff and work quality, and help to ensure that all work complies with ATC's Environmental Policy, construction practices, and Green Tier agreement with the Wisconsin DNR. These alliance partners understand all aspects of our work and help us to develop methods to continuously improve our environmental performance.

Alliance contractors are involved early in the project development stage so that their construction expertise and knowledge is incorporated into a project plan that includes specific steps to help avoid or minimize environmental impacts. In addition, during construction, alliance contractors ensure that the necessary environmental protections are implemented and they provide in-the-field expertise to monitor all activities and resspond to unforeseen conditions that may compromise environmental protection.
