John Flynn Vice President, Strategic Planning and Project Development American Transmission Co.

John Flynn joined American Transmission Co. in 2010 as its first vice president of project development. He is responsible for strategic planning and leading ATC’s efforts to expand transmission development opportunities outside of its current service territory.

Prior to joining ATC, Flynn served in several key transmission leadership roles at American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio, including managing director of Strategic Planning, Finance & Business Development for AEP Transmission, as well as president of Pioneer Transmission (a joint venture between AEP and Duke Energy), and executive vice president of Electric Transmission America (a joint venture between AEP and MidAmerican Holdings). Flynn’s 20-year career in the energy industry also includes financial, auditing, regulatory and policy responsibilities with Northeast Utilities, Progress Energy and Arthur Andersen.

Flynn graduated from Fairfield University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
